Spoil Free ReviewI read and enjoyed Christine Zolendz New Adult PNR series Mad World a while back. I knew when Brutally Beautiful was released I would be reading how she did with an adult book. She did not disappoint. Wow what a story that is twisted, a bit on the dark side, unpredictable, page-turner and original plot. Awesome characters that leaped off the pages with realism. Both characters have some serious issues from their past that made them the way they are in the present. Christine Zolendz did her research and did it well. I fell in love with both characters.
Kade the hero had me going crazy in a good way with his ups and downs. One minute he is the biggest jerk then the next he is the sweetest. This man had some serious demons inside and is really messed up in the head. Wow he can be intense and twisted. Dual POV and loved being in his head. His POV can be broody and dark at times. Loved the flashbacks that were nicely layered through out the book about his past. They are dark and on the mysterious side. Once I realized why he is the way he is I felt sorry for him. From one of his flashbacks I did have a idea of what happened in his past. Then Christine Zolendz with her amazing writing skills started having me second guessing my self. Oh My gosh I was anxious in what direction she was taking the plot that I could not swipe my kindle fast in enough. Well I do not want to spoil anything so that is all you all are getting out of me on it.
Samantha has secrets from her past that she is hiding from. I feel readers did not get all of her past secrets and I am sure we will learn more in book 2. She was the perfect match for Kade. She consumes every twisted thought he has. She is on the sassy side, definitely could hold her own with Kade and his crazy moods.
As for the steam factor. Only a few sexual tension moments that were good but nothing really too exciting. Few sex scenes that were hot but again nothing really too exciting. It did work for me as I was more engrossed what was going on with Kade.
The ending was good but nothing spectacular. No cliffhanger for those that hate them. I do want to read book 2 but it is nothing I have to read ASAP.
I wish CZ would get picked up by a top publisher. She is a great story teller and feel her books could stand out more.

Brutally Beautiful The Beautiful Series Book 1 edition by Christine Zolendz Romance eBooks Reviews
I definitely thought this book was a page turner. I loved the opening scene, it hooks the reader from the start. I loved the slow burn of Kade and Lainey getting to know each other. I loved the intensity of Kade and that we got his POV throughout the book. The scene in the closet was a new experience for me as a reader. I've read a lot of books with a lot of steamy encounters and the closet was a first. 😊 I originally thought there was a lot of flowery dialogue but soon it just wove into the tapestry of the storyline and didn't bother me. I loved the almost stream of consciousness thoughts during the heated moments between them and I loved the ending although I wonder if ultimately they will be found out. I recognize that this book was primarily tackling Kade's dark secrets and I look forward to the next book tackling Sam's. Overall, I thought this book had just the right anount if dark vs. light and I would definitely recommend it!
Well this was yet another disappointing read. I thought for sure I'd love this one since all my GR friends rated it so highly but I just did not connect with these characters at all. I don't feel like writing a formal review but the main things that didn't work for me was
The writing it felt really weird. The author constantly capitalized sentences and italicize way too much. I swear I couldn't get through one page without A BUNCH OF THIS and a bunch of that. It just wasn't necessary and annoyed the crap out of me. The author also knocked down the barrier between reader and the characters and at times spoke to the readers and instead of feeling like it helped involve me more in the story, it made me want to pull away. Made it less real.
The characters and the way they act they're supposed to be in their 30s but they sure as hell didn't act like it. Of course, Samantha the heroine felt the need to constantly reminds us that she was a "grown woman". Literally, over and over she looks down on people and judges them and demands to be treated like a "grown woman". I don’t like how at times it felt like she was judging people who weren’t like her. She certainly judges other women who could want men that she finds insulting. Like the Alpha Male. She says only women who are insecure and have low self-esteem could want a man like that and because she was a “grown woman” and confident in herself she saw them for what they truly are. And sure, Alpha Male’s aren’t the best sometimes but don’t knock down what other people are attracted to. Ironic that she falls for Kade who most definitely is an alpha male. Hypocritical much, Samantha?
Overuse of words I swear it's like the author lost her thesaurus or something. The overuse of the words savage, ferociously and brutal was just crazy. And the sentence "Let’s lay it out, shall we?” showed up more times than I can count throughout the book, from both characters.
Oh and lets not forget about the fact that this book is supposed to be about a girl on the run from a scary past and yet she doesn't even talk about it until about 80% into the book and for only like 2 chapters, maybe a few pages in each. Honestly I don't even know what this book was trying to sell. What was it trying to make me feel? Think? I don't know.
I gave it 3 stars because despite how hard it was for me to continue at times, I was semi-interested enough to keep reading till the end. It could just be me and my moodiness so if you want to give this a try I won't stop you. This book was relatively high ratings so I could just be the odd ball.
